About Oshu

Oshu City is in Iwate, Tohoku, the northern part of Honshu.

The International Linear Collider will go into part of Oshu, and is close to Mizusawa-Esashi station, our bullet train station.

Life is good here. You can enjoy tranquil rice fields, mountains and forests while enjoying the convenience of stores and a bullet train station. Eat your fill of fresh local food: rice, fruits and vegetables, beef, eggs, and more.

We are already a science city. Our connection to science spans hundreds of years, a notable example being the Mizusawa Latitude Observatory founded in 1899. Now Oshu is home to NAOJ's Mizusawa VLBI Observatory.

We are supportive. The city and local international relations association provide comprehensive living information and support, and our monthly multilingual newsletter shows our commitment to providing timely information.
